Snax
My biggest issue with how I’ve been eating lately is I love chips and crackers, and those are pretty much out. I’m pretty sure cutting them out is helping my weight loss move more quickly, so while I have “cheated” on my no grains policy, I’m trying very hard to cheat in a very mindful way by eating things I truly love and enjoy. Chips are just something I used to...

Day 20 - The Halfway Point
Here I am on day 20 of 40 days of introspection. I have been very disciplined in certain ways like food and yoga, but less disciplined in the the meditation and journaling department. I do consider writing here a major part of my journaling, though, and I think that is what works for me best. I’ve stopped writing down all the food I eat and am instead logging it all into an online food...

My "Fashion Sense"
I work in “fashion”. I work for a national retailer with mostly women. I work with some wonderfully creative, talented, lovely and stylish ladies. I, however, have always been a little off when it comes to clothing. In high school, I liked to wear ratty old sweaters, a sparkly cat collar, combat boots and black lipstick. And at the time I fancied myself to be quite a badass, so I...

I’m really glad that my post about my own struggles with weight resonated with people. It was very personal and cathartic to write it all out. Reflecting on what I wrote, and the articles that I read about body image, I realize that the most important thing for me to do is somehow figure out how to be happy with myself. I do think that doing yoga is an important role in this. Not only...

Fat Shame vs. Skinny Bashing
So, today I’ve seen a lot of people posting a link to this article and how it really resonated with them because they are naturally thin women and they are sick of people bashing them. Now, I agree with the fact that there should not be anyone bashing women for any body type they may have. I agree that as a culture we need to shift away from focusing on a woman’s body type. I doubt...
I plan to write a post about fat shame vs skinny bashing, but right now I have to go to yoga. Mostly because I feel fat and disgusting. More on this later.

I just wrote “these mixed nuts can suck it” in my 40 Days of Introspection journal. I’m not really sure that goes with the whole journaling your feelings deal. But seriously, these mixed nuts? SUCK IT.

Day 9 of 40
Oh, my abs! MY ABS. They are pained. I don’t know if you’re aware, but your core is very very important in yoga. Not to mention the crazy ways that my instructors get us to do crunches. It’s not your average situp. Ouch.
Here I am, on day 9. Nearly 25% through. Still feels pretty early on. I didn’t go to yoga on Sunday, I’m using it as a day of rest. I did some...

The problem with women is that they’re all so fucking different. You can keep trying to fit them into boxes, and cram them into stereotypes, but in the end it’s fucking hopeless—They’re always going to surprise you. You can take what you learn from one woman and try to apply it to the next, but it…

Going to attempt to write something. Might be a story, might be a screenplay. It’s not really for others, it’s mostly for me. Always having ideas in my brain should mean I do something about it, right? It’s kind of a resolution of mine. I’ll never know unless I write the shit down.
I want to try editing video again. I got the camera, but then became lazy and set it aside....
I’m trying really hard not to weigh myself every day, but all this yoga is making me lose weight so fast I don’t think I could eat enough not to. Yay! I miss skinny me, it’s been 5 years since I’ve seen her.
All week I kept saying I’d “reward” myself for going to yoga every single morning by going to the easier 4 pm class on Saturday. Before I went to bed I even changed my schedule from the 9 am to the 4 pm. But I find myself awake and fidgety and going to the 9 am kick my ass class. So weird.

So, I don’t know about you, but Beyonce’s private birthing suite at this hospital doesn’t look any nicer than the beautiful private birthing rooms at the birth center that I would use if I were to have a baby. I don’t see what the big deal is, other than the possibility that they paid to have this wing put in. You know what? If I were rich and famous, I’d just have...

Just a few things to unload from my brain
All the Mighty Boosh and Never Mind the Buzzcocks watching has culminated in a weird and awesome dream that Noel Fielding was my next door neighbor and I would do laundry at his house and drink tea with him. It made me pretty happy.
It is only day 4 of the 40 day challenge, and while I am tired and achy, I am feeling pretty good and my mood is great. So far this week I made it up into crow, but...

You GUYS, Marc Maron wasn't on my list? WTF??
YOU GUYS. http://weirdgirladventures.blogspot.com/2010/08/list.html
What was I, crazy? I have like, a whole new list now. Paul Bettany? I love you, but SEE YA. I’m pretty sure I’d take Jason Segel above any of those dudes any day if given the choice. Mmm, Segel.
And duh, Marc Maron is not on there? When we went to see him, Husband told me I could do it with him and he would be ok...
You guys, I have to somehow rearrange my “list” to include Noel Fielding and Jason Segel. I wish my list could be 10 people instead of 5.
Russell Brand on WTF with Marc Maron was pretty good, but it mostly made me want to watch videos of Russell with Noel Fielding, which in turn made me want to watch videos of just Noel, which in turn made me wish I had season 2 of Mighty Boosh at...
